What's with the name?

According to Bristol legend, Ghyston was a bright and industrious giant who won a challenge by digging the Avon gorge.

gaɪstɒn / Guy - ston

Ghyston is a mythological character from Bristol folklore. He was one of two giants, Goram and Ghyston, who vied for the love of the beautiful Princess Avona.

Avona set them both the challenge of draining a lake between Bradford-on-Avon and Bristol.

Ghyston’s opponent, overworked and overheated, drank too much and fell asleep. Ghyston on the other hand was keen, strong, industrious, and bright, pacing himself to successfully complete, and win, the challenge.

His work created the dramatic Avon gorge, and won the heart of Avona.

So why is our software company like the legendary giant, Ghyston? Here are some of our comparisons – let us know if you spot any more similarities!

  • We both achieve great, long-lasting things.
  • We’re both motivated and caring.
  • We both know about the importance of a good work/life balance.
  • We’re both Bristol legends!

We’re grateful to Oliver Rigby for sharing this story with us in the form of his children’s book, on sale here.
