We’re delighted to introduce our two Charities of the Year at Ghyston!

Each year, we select two organisations to support: a Mission Partner that aligns with our commitment to ethical and impactful software development, and a Community Partner that holds special significance for our team. Our Mission Partner reflects our dedication to responsible and innovative technology, while our Community Partner is chosen for its personal or local relevance to our colleagues.

For 2025, our Mission Partner is Tech for Good South West. Their work is a perfect fit for our values at the Ghyston Foundation, and we’re eager to collaborate with them on governance in technical and non-technical organisations, ethical software development, and fostering impactful innovation. This partnership is an exciting opportunity to drive meaningful change in the sector—stay tuned for updates!

Our Community Partner this year is Endometriosis UK, a cause that resonates deeply with members of our team. We’re proud to support their mission to raise awareness, provide crucial information, and advocate for better care for those affected. We’re looking forward to dedicating our energy and resources to helping them make a difference.

We’re excited about what lies ahead with these partnerships. Keep an eye out for updates as we embark on an inspiring year of collaboration and impact!

Dealing With AI Sceptics In Your Team

At Ghyston, we've been taking a deep dive into lots of our clients' teams, assessing how they're using AI in their software engineering. And what we're finding across the board is that there's quite a gap - between the people leaning into AI software development the most, and those who are really quite sceptical of it, or fearful of it. What's interesting is how to handle that gap, and how to help bring a team together around it.

How To Know When It's Time To Replace Your Legacy Software

Most software doesn't fail dramatically. There's no single moment when the system crashes and everyone agrees it's time to act. Instead, legacy systems tend to degrade slowly, and the people closest to them often adapt so naturally to the workarounds that the underlying problem becomes invisible. As a technical leader, you probably already sense when something is past its best. But sensing it and being able to make the case for replacement are different things. Here are the signs worth paying attention to.
