We are always keen to tell our story and to showcase the great software and services our team work so hard to produce.  So when the Bristol Post Business Awards 2018 call for entries was issued Client Success Strategist Helen Cassley was hot on the case.

‘Best Technological or Creative Business Award’ seemed like a particularly hard accolade to win, nevertheless Helen, who is fairly new to the Ghyston team, was so impressed by the team ethic and quality work she had seen in her first 3 months of employment she remained convinced it was worth a shot.

The judges criteria was harsh, they were looking for an outstanding business from the creative and technological industry sectors.  A business who produces cutting-edge technology and has made a ‘big noise’ in the tech world and beyond.  A company that has demonstrated skill, creativity and innovation in the development of a unique product, service or design.  Winning attributes needed to include a clever business strategy, a determined leader and a strong motivated team.

Helen was resolute in her decision to enter.  She truly believed that the rapid prototyping tool that she had seen developed in a technically demanding environment, that had solved a complex problem and resulted in a very happy client, was worthy of this prestigious award.

As the date of the awards dinner approached we waited on tenterhooks, was this award beyond our reach?  But then an email arrived and Helen announced, to our delight, we had been shortlisted as a finalist against one other company – SXS Events!  The table was booked, the ‘black ties’ and dresses dry cleaned.

On the night we arrived at Ashton Gate, if our nerves were to get the better of us they were soon calmed by the refreshing Prosecco we were served.  A delicious dinner ensued and as the wine flowed the conversation throughout the room became more lively – much to the disgust of ITV’s Kylie Pentelow who was hosting the event and worked hard to calm a rowdy audience.  All of a sudden it was our turn, the Ghyston name appeared alongside SXS Event, tension mounted, and after a nail biting few seconds we were announced as winners!  The Ghyston team were thrilled and all were keen to receive the award together.

We would like to say a huge thank you to @BristolLive Bristol Business Awards and congratulations to the winners in all the other categories.  We’re looking forward to entering again next year!
